A Legacy That Remains
For over 50 years, Fort Recovery has evolved alongside the British Virgin Islands.
What began as a small oceanfront retreat on Tortola’s West End has grown thoughtfully over the decades, shaped by the natural beauty, history, and easygoing spirit that define the BVI.
Built in 1620
Long before villas lined this shoreline, a Dutch fort stood watch over these waters.
Constructed in the early 17th century, the stone structure that gives Fort Recovery its name remains one of the only intact forts of its kind in the Caribbean — a quiet reminder of the island’s layered past.
The sea has changed. The world has changed.
The fort remains.
